Hanging Guidelines
What do I need to know about displaying my art work?
Wall-Mounted Art
Paintings, photographs, limited edition prints, and fabric art must be framed or prepared for hanging.
There is a $5 participation fee, $10 for multiple pieces for non-juried shows. Juried shows have a $10 participation fee, $20 for multiple pieces.
All framed and unframed canvases or cradled boards must have a securely attached metal wire on the back, arching 2.5 to 3 inches from the top center (up to 4 inches for larger works) to ensure the hanging apparatus is hidden. See wikiHow for preparing a canvas painting.
Frames and matting must be clean and in good condition.
For unframed gallery-wrapped canvases, deep edges are preferred for Member Shows and required for juried shows. Sides should be painted with no visible staples.
Oil paintings must be dry and odour-free.
Framed photographs should be matted to avoid contact with glass, and borders should not be visible.
For framed watercolors, hand-pulled prints, and photographs, sealing the backing with paper framing tape or a dust cover is preferred for Member Shows and required for juried shows.
Special hanging requirements, such as for unframed works on paper, should be noted at submission.
Sculptures, Ceramics, Jewelry and Fabric Art
Must be stable and not require supports, unless pre-approved and provided by the artist.
